It doesn’t matter the time of year, every time I visit Vineland Estates Winery, it rains. But it never extinguishes the excitement felt by the bride and groom, or any of the guests.
The wedding day started in Niagara on the Lake at a cute Bed & Breakfast known as the Merlot Cottage. I’ve lived in Niagara my entire life and probably driven past it countless times on Highway 55, but never noticed it. This is the charm of Niagara on the Lake. This is why so many brides choose Niagara on the Lake for their wedding, or as in this case, their bridal prep. I had to duck slightly when going up the stairs, but it feels like such a snuggly little home. Perfect for small wedding days. The bride and groom actually got ready “together” in the Merlot Cottage. They could talk to each other, but in good wedding tradition, did not see each other until their first look in the barrel room at Vineland Estates Winery.
As usual, it rained in Vineland, but as originally intended, the couple arranged for a first look in the barrel room. The long rows of barrels made for the ideal anticipatory walk for her. She could just barely see him off in the distance, but it slowly came into view as she got closer to him. Being surrounded by all the incredible wines and in a quiet private room, made it ideal for a first look.
The ceremony took place in the quaint Carriage House which was beautifully decorated with flowers by Country Basket. And the bouquet was gorgeous. The rain held of just long enough to get some moody portraits done around the property at Vineland Estates Winery. The view of the vineyard over rolling hills ends with the sight of Lake Ontario.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret:
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.
